Luik returns to Norway with Avaldsnes IL

Westfield Matildas midfielder Aivi Luik has signed with Norwegian club Avaldsnes IL.

The 34-year-old has made the move to Norway after spending last season with Spanish club Levante.

It’s not the first time Luik has played in the Norwegian Toppserien, having played 21 games – scoring three goals - for Valerenga in 2017.

Luik, who was a part of the Westfield Matildas squad at the recent FIFA Women’s World Cup, has played right around the globe throughout her 14-year career.

"The fact that we are now getting an established and experienced midfielder who also got a place in the World Cup squad for Australia, we are very pleased," said Avaldsnes General Manager Staveland Nygaard.

"Aivi also knows about Scandinavian culture through her mother, and by having played for both Vålerenga and Brøndby in the past."
