The FIFA Women's World Cup™ Trophy comes to Australia

With little more than two months to go before the Matildas kick-off their FIFA Women's World Cup France 2019™ campaign against Italy, fans got the chance to meet their heroes and get up-close-and-personal with the coveted Trophy in Sydney on Sunday.

Along with Matildas past and present, former Socceroos goalkeeper – and now FIFA Legends Squad member – Mark Schwarzer was on hand to help the day go with a swing, being interviewed on stage before posing for photos with delighted fans, as well as posing for a selfie with FIFA's Chief Women's Football Officer Sarai Bareman and current Australia international Kyah Simon.

The magnificent Trophy, which Sam Kerr and her teammates will compete for in just a few weeks' time, looked resplendent in pride of place in front of the iconic Sydney Opera House.

The well-attended occasion also saw the launch of Football Federation Australia's Gender Equality Plan, with special guest Tanya Plibersek, the deputy leader of the opposition, shadow minister for women and shadow minister for education and training.

You can watch all the action from the event, which took place at First Fleet Park in Sydney's world-famous Circular Quay, here
