Matildas Abroad: Kerr scores in 8-0 goal thriller; Foord provides the assist for the matchwinner

Sam Kerr found the back of the net as Chelsea recorded a dominant win; while Caitlin Foord provided the assist for the matchwinner for Arsenal.

England

Kicking off with Emily Gielnik's Aston Villa who faced a 5-0 defeat to Manchester United, with goals to Katie Zelem, Leah Galton, Alessia Russo, Ona Battle and Rachel Williams giving the hosts the win at Old Trafford. 

Gielnik came off the bench in the 58th minute, making her first appearance for the Villans in almost two months after an injury sustained on international duty. 

Over in London, Caitlin Foord and Steph Catley's Arsenal were looking to bounce back from their first defeat of the season in their last WSL outing when they hosted Clare Wheeler's Everton.

The Gunners took the lead just before the half-hour mark, with Foord providing the assist on Vivianne Miedema's matchwinner and the game ending at 1-0.

Foord and Catley both started for the home side, while Wheeler did not appear in the matchday squad.

Meanwhile, Sam Kerr's ladder leaders, Chelsea, defeated last-placed Leicester City 8-0.

The Blues took the lead just four minutes into the game through Guro Reiten, the Norwegian international then played playmaker on Chelsea's next three goals, setting up Kerr just before the break to give the away side a 4-0 lead going into the break.

Four more goals in the second half saw Chelsea record a dominant win and keep their spot at the top of the table. 

Mackenzie Arnold's West Ham United faced Liverpool as the Hammers aimed to stay in the winner's circle, with Arnold starting in goals for the visitors.

Liverpool found the opener early in the game, with Ceri Holland opening the scoring in the third minute. Katie Stengel doubled the home side's advantage before the break, with Liverpool recording their second win of the season with a 2-0 victory.  

Lastly, Mary Fowler, Hayley Raso and Alanna Kennedy's Manchester City hosted Brighton & Hove in the final game of the round. 

Three first-half goals to City gave the home side a 3-0 advantage going into the break, thanks to goals by Julie Blakstad, Laura Coombs and an own goal from Brighton. The visitors clawed back a goal in the 93rd minute to end the game at 3-1.

Raso was the only Aussie to appear in the fixture coming off the bench to replace Chloe Kelly in the 61st minute, while Kennedy remained an unused substitute in the 3-1 win. 

France

Over in Paris, Lydia Williams' Paris Saint-Germain made it eight wins in the D1 when they hosted Paris FC in the derby. 

Sandy Baltimore found the back of the net in the 55th minute to seal the win for PSG, with Williams not appearing in the matchday squad. 

Denmark

Our last stop takes us to Denmark, where Matilda McNamara's AGF faced a late 2-1 defeat to Farum. 

AGF took the lead just before the break thanks to Sofie Bloch Jørgensen, however, Farum found the response in the 60th minute. A penalty in the 86th minute saw Farum seal the 2-1 win.
