Starting off in the NWSL, Chloe Logarzo's Kansas City Current went down 2-0 to the Portland Thorns in the NWSL Championship Final at Audi Field in Washington, D.C.

This season's MVP, Sophia Smith, opened the scoring in just the third minute for the Thorns, capitalising on a defensive error to give her side a 1-0 lead going into the break.

An unfortunate own goal on the other side of the break saw Portland double their advantage, and clinch their third Championship. Logarzo remained an unused substitute on the bench in the defeat.

England

Kicking off in London, Sam Kerr's Chelsea hosted Emily Gielnik's Aston Villa in Kingsmeadow as the Blues looked to make it five wins.

Lauren James gave the home side the lead before the half-hour mark, however, Villa would claw the equaliser back through Rachel Daly to send the sides in locked at 1-1.

On the other side of the break, James doubled her tally for the day and regained the lead for the Blues before she set Kerr up for the third goal of the game to seal all three points.

Meanwhile, Manchester City hosted newly promoted Liverpool with both Aussies starting on the bench for Gareth Taylor's side.

Khadija Shaw opened the scoring once again for City before Katie Stengel found the equaliser to see the game go to the half-time break at 1-1.

Hayley Raso entered the field, replacing Chloe Kelly, and just six minutes later scored the matchwinner for City, netting goals in back-to-back games for the Aussie.

Mary Fowler came off the bench with 10 minutes of regular time remaining, coming on for Shaw. The score remained 2-1 as City moved to fourth on the table with their third win of the season.

Clare Wheeler made her first WSL start for Everton, however, the Toffees were outmuscled by Manchester United. Goals to Nikita Parris, Leah Galton and Hayley Ladd gave United a 3-0 victory.

Last up, Caitlin Foord and Steph Catley's Arsenal hosted Mackenzie Arnold's West Ham United.

Arsenal was in search of their fifth consecutive win of the season, with Foord and Catley both starting for the Gunners, while an injury to Arnold in their last outing saw her omitted from the matchday squad for the Hammers.
