The Westfield Matildas left it late – very late – but came away with a 1-1 draw against China PR to spark jubilant scenes at Western Sydney Stadium on Thursday night.

Needing to avoid defeat to finish top of the group in their qualifying tournament, Emily van Egmond’s 93rd-minute goal saved Australia’s blushes against the Chinese side.

After securing the result they needed to set up a home and away play-off against Vietnam next month, the Westfield Matildas stars took to social media.
