The Newcastle Jets and Western Sydney Wanderers kicked things off on Friday night. Spectacular goals to Tiana Jaber and Ashlie Crofts ensured the spoils were shared.

Both Emily van Egmond and Bryleeh Henry played full games for their respective sides; it was Henry's first 90 minutes this season as she was slowly eased back into the league.

Melbourne City added another win to their tally, this time dispatching of Adelaide United. Emma Checker once again captained the side.

A Hannah Wilkinson double and Rhianna Pollicina's long range effort were enough to make Chelsie Dawber's goal mere consolation.

Adelaide fans will have to wait a little longer for Dylan Holmes' return in red after the CommBank Matilda re-signed with club midweek.

City's crosstown rivals Victory made it three from three in a goalfest against the Brisbane Roar.

Courtney Nevin was moved into centreback to plug a hole in Jeff Hopkin's side while Kyra Cooney-Cross continued to pull the strings in the midfield.

She was not joined by Commonwealth Bank Matildas team mate Alex Chidiac who was unable to make the trip north.

Katrina Gorry started her first game for the season and was restricted to only a half. However, Mini was industrious in the centre of the park. Jamilla Rankin played 73 minutes.

Victory's front three was on song with Lynn Williams, Harriet Withers, and Catherine Zimmerman all scoring. Goals to Shea Connors and Larissa Crummer saw the Roar come agonisingly close to some points once again.

In the final match of the round, Sydney FC maintained their perfect start to the season, recording a 3-0 win over Wellington Phoenix.

While Remy Siemsen wasn't on the scoresheet this week, she was busy as ever up forward. Jess Nash played only the first half but her long throw released Cortnee Vine for the opener.

Charlize Rule entered the fray for Nash and was able to score her first A-League Women goal. Mackenzie Hawkesby rounded out the scoring with a tidy finish.

Jada Whyman played 82 minutes in goal for the Sky Blues.
