Matildas Abroad Preview: Two games remain in France; while two teams featuring Aussies face off in the USA

Two games remain in the Division 1 Féminine with Olympique Lyonnais in a prime spot to claim their 15th title; while two teams featuring Australians face off in the USA.

Starting off in France, Mary Fowler's Montpellier is searching for their 11th win of the season when they face 10th-placed GPSO 92 Issy.

Fowler, after just being named PFA Young Women's Footballer of the Year on Thursday night, has scored four goals so far in the season and will be looking to match her five goals from last season.

This game will kick off on Saturday night at 10:30 pm AEST

Moving over to Paris, PSG will host Ellie Carpenter's Olympique Lyonnais who are fresh off their UWCL win last weekend and will be looking to wrap up the D1 title. 


Sadly, an injury sustained in the final will see Carpenter unable to finish the last two games of the season with Lyon. Her side remains five points in front of PSG on the table and will be aiming to have a repeat of their meeting earlier in the D1 season where Lyon won 6-1.

Moving over to the USA, Emily van Egmond's San Diego Wave have had the dream start to their inaugural NWSL season, sitting at the top of the ladder with four wins to their name.

Wave FC will be looking to make it five wins when they take on OL Reign, van Egmond has featured in all five games so far for the season for Wave. 

OL Reign sits just outside of the top six, having only collected one win for the season. This game will kick off on Monday morning at 5:00 am AEST

Meanwhile, Chloe Logarzo's Kansas City Current host Alex Chidiac's Racing Louisville, as Kansas search for their first win of the season.


Since making her NWSL debut two weeks ago, Chidiac has helped Louisville to back-to-back wins, their first three points of the season. This game will kick off on Tuesday morning at 5:00 am AEST

Over in Sweden, Remy Siemsen's AIK is looking for their second win of the season when they host Linköpings FC. 

Their opposition sits in third place on the ladder, while AIK is stuck at the bottom of the table. Siemsen, since picking up an assist in her debut, is still searching for her first goal in Sweden but came close to breaking her duck last weekend. 

This game will kick off on Sunday night at 11:00 pm AEST.

Meanwhile, Courtney Nevin and Kyra Cooney-Cross’ Hammarby will take on 11th-placed IFK Kalmar. Cooney-Cross is still awaiting her debut for her new side, with Hammarby looking to climb into seventh place on the ladder with their fifth win. 

Nevin, who was named on the OBOS Damallsvenskan Team of the Week for her performance in Hammarby's 2-1 win over Djurgården, has made an impact at left-back since making her debut in Sweden in April.

This game will kick off on Sunday night at 11:00 pm AEST. 

Over in Vittsjö, Clare Polkinghorne and Katrina Gorry's Vittsjö GIK will host newcomers IF Brommapojkarna. Gorry, who scored her first goal in Sweden last weekend in a late 1-0 win, will be aiming to repeat her heroics against a side that was only won two games this season. 

This game will kick off on Sunday night at 11:00 pm AEST. 

Finally, Teagan Micah and Charli Grant's FC Rosengård, off the back of a Swedish Women's Cup Final win on Friday morning, are looking to extend their unbeaten streak to eleven up against Piteå.


Micah and Grant both made the start in FC Rosengård's 2-1 win in extra time that saw the side claim their sixth Svenska Cupen title. 

This game will kick off on Tuesday morning at 3:00 am AEST.

Over in Denmark, Clare Wheeler, Angie Beard and Indi-Paige Riley's Fortuna Hjørring are aiming to bounce back from their 4-0 loss last weekend when they host KoldingQ. 

With only two games remaining in the Danish Elitedivisionen Championship round-robins, Fortuna Hjørring sit in second place. 

This game will kick off on Saturday night at 9:00 pm AEST. 

Our last stop takes us to Norway, where Karly Roestbakken's LSK Kvinner host Stabæk. LSK sit in sixth place with three wins, while their opposition sits two points in front of them in fifth.
