Logarzo and Harrison lead the way as Westfield Matildas return to NWSL

Chloe Logarzo and Amy Harrison could be in line for Washington Spirit’s huge clash with North Carolina Courage this weekend as Australia’s World Cup stars turn their focus back to the National Women’s Soccer League.

Logarzo and Harrison were among the first players to return from France to the US and may be involved for Richie Burke’s side as league leaders Washington host reigning NWSL champions North Carolina on Sunday morning (9:00am AEST).

Washington are currently the pacesetters in the States, having gone undefeated since their week two loss to Utah Royals, who are one point behind in second.

The return of Aussie pair Logarzo and Harrison – who both participated in training this week – will be a huge boost for high-flying Spirit, who are searching for their first NWSL trophy.

Steph Catley is back in Seattle, but neither the Westfield Matildas vice-captain or teammates Elise Kellond-Knight and Lydia Williams will be involved in Reign FC’s trip to Utah Royals on Saturday (12.00pm AEST).

However, the trio are expected to be in the running for next Saturday’s (1:00pm AEST) trip to Portland Thorns, where they could face off against Westfield Matildas teammates Hayley Raso, Caitlin Foord and Ellie Carpenter. Portland – in action against Houston Dash this Sunday morning (10:30am AEST) say that all three will be monitored in training next week.

Meanwhile, Emily van Egmond and Alanna Kennedy will return to Orlando Pride next week, as will Clare Polkinghorne to Houston Dash.

Finally, Sam Kerr’s return to Chicago Red Stars is unknown. Red Stars' boss Rory Dames spoke to the Westfield Matildas captain after Australia’s Round of 16 defeat to Norway last Sunday morning, and told her to take as long as she needs before coming back.
