The 2024 Women’s Football Awards revealed its shortlist today ahead of the flagship ceremony, with Steph Catley, Kyra Cooney-Cross, Mary Fowler and Sam Kerr all nominated for awards.
Sam Kerr - Football Player of the Year
After helping Chelsea to a fourth consecutive Women’s Super League title for Chelsea, and playing her part in Australia's best-ever finish at the FIFA Women's World Cup 2023™ on home soil, the forward has been nominated for the award once again.

Kyra Cooney-Cross & Mary Fowler - Young Football Player of the Year
The young Australian duo had their chance to shine on the international stage at the FIFA Women's World Cup 2023™ on home soil, Cooney-Cross appeared in every single game for Australia, starting in all 7 games, while Fowler found the back of the net in a dominant 4-0 win over Canada and pulled the strings to set up a memorable goal in our 2-0 win over Denmark.
Following the tournament, Cooney-Cross signed with Arsenal in the WSL, making the move from Hammarby in Sweden, with the midfielder plying her trade around some of the best footballers in the world. Fowler has played a role in helping Manchester City keep their spot in second place in the WSL, as the side looks to squash Chelsea's long-time reign on the WSL title.

Steph Catley - 2023 World Cup Hero
The defender is nominated for the 2023 World Cup Hero, after scoring the match-winning goal in our opening game win over the Republic of Ireland, Catley captained her side on home soil to a history-making FIFA Women's World Cup 2023™, leading her side to fourth place at the tournament.
