Westfield Matildas defender Ellie Carpenter has been nominated for a 2020 rebel Female Football Award.
Carpenter, who is currently with the Westfield Matildas preparing for Wednesday night’s Olympic qualifying play-off against Vietnam, has been nominated for the prestigious rebel Role Model Award.
The rebel Female Football Awards recognise the role of women in our great game, not only In the Westfield W-League and Hyundai A-League but also Member Federation and grassroots level.
The awards recognise and acknowledge achievements made in women’s football over the past year and bring together all facets of the women’s game.
And 19-year-old Carpenter is a worthy nomination from the Westfield W-League, where she plays for 2019/20 Premiers Melbourne City.

Carpenter is an excellent role model, mixing her positive attitude and work ethic on the pitch, with her encouragement and support of the growth of female football from the grassroots up.
The all-action right-back, who debuted for the Westfield Matildas as a 15-year-old in 2016, spends a considerable amount of time after matches taking photos and signing autographs for fans.
Carpenter has also been recognised for always displaying good sportsmanship and a fantastic attitude on the pitch.
She is up against six other players in the Westfield W-League who are in the running for the rebel Role Model Award.
