Aussies Abroad: Gielnik’s dream start with Bayern Munich

Emily Gielnik has got off to a winning start with her new German club Bayern Munich overnight.

In her first start for the club, Bayern thrashed Eintracht Frankfurt 5-0 in the opening round of the DFB Pokal Women (German Cup.

Starting in attack, Gielnik had a hand in Simone Boye’s first-half goal to help Bayern shoot to a 2-0 lead inside 18 minutes.

The 27-year-old, who has also played for Liverpool in England, played just over an hour before she was substituted to a warm ovation from the fans.
