Steph Catley’s Reign FC have surged into the National Women’s Soccer League finals places following a 1-0 victory at Houston Dash.
The Westfield Matildas defender helped secure the Seattle-based side’s fourth clean sheet in six games as New Zealand striker Rosie White’s 21st-minute goal proved decisive at BBVA Compass Stadium.

The 100-cap Kiwi international, White, pounced in the penalty area to mark her first Reign start with a goal as Catley and company shut down the home side, which featured Kyah Simon, to clinch all three points.
The result moves Reign ahead of Washington Spirit into fourth place at least until tomorrow. Dash’s up-and-down form leaves them in sixth place, four points adrift of the four finals spots, having played two games more than the front-runners.
Spirit must wait to face Courage
Westfield Matilda pair Chloe Logarzo and Elise Kellond-Knight were named to start for Washington Spirit in their clash with title-contenders North Carolina Courage but the game was postponed following a lightning storm.
Kick-off at Sahlen’s Stadium was delayed for more than two hours until it was finally announced the match will take place at 6am AEST tomorrow, Sunday 4 August. Amy Harrison was selected as a substitute for Spirit.
