Kerr scores in her fifth consecutive game; Hammers clinch late draw over United

Sam Kerr scored in her fifth consecutive game for Chelsea, opening the scoring against Everton. Meanwhile, City picked up a win over Reading and the Hammers scored a last-minute equaliser to clinch a 1-1 draw against Manchester United.

Sam Kerr was on the scoresheet in under 10 minutes for the Blues, nodding home from close range to give the visitors the lead. The striker netted in her fifth consecutive game, making it six goals in five. 

Guro Reiten and Erin Cuthbert added to the scoresheet before the halftime break to give Chelsea a 3-0 lead. 


Zećira Mušović kept out a long-range effort from the Toffees in the second stanza, to keep a clean sheet and ensure the three points.

This win sees Chelsea maintain second on the ladder, just two points behind leaders Arsenal with one game in hand.

Over in Manchester, City was looking to make it three wins in a row in the FA WSL when they hosted Reading FC.  

Alanna Kennedy and Hayley Raso started for Gareth Taylor's side, the hosts had a number of chances to take the lead but were forced to go into the interval at a 0-0 deadlock.

Raso looked impressive on the wing, however, received a small knock and was replaced with Lauren Hemp. Her replacement quickly inspired a goal, setting up Demi Stokes for the opener. 

Hemp herself found the back of the net in the final 10 minutes, doubling City's advantage to seal the 2-0 win. 

West Ham United was aiming for back-to-back wins when they hosted Manchester United, Mackenzie Arnold and Tameka Yallop started for Olli Harder's side in their midweek FAWSL action.

The two sides went into the break with no goals to show for their efforts, however, United came out of the break firing, taking the lead in the 54th minute through Ella Toone.

The Hammers would have to wait until the 93rd minute to equalise, skipper Gilly Flaherty heading a corner past Mary Earps in United's goal.

This draw sees West Ham United collect their most points in a season so far, sitting in sixth place on 24 points.
