Carpenter picks up assist number six of the season for Lyon; Arsenal, Chelsea, City and West Ham into Women's FA Cup semi-finals

Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City and West Ham United are through to the Women's FA Cup semi-finals; while FC Rosengård and Fortuna Hjørring have booked their spots in the Cup Final.

Domestic Cup competitions across Europe saw Arsenal, Chelsea, FC Rosengård, Fortuna Hjørring, Manchester City and West Ham United advance to the next round in their respective competitions.

Arsenal kicked off the Women's FA Cup quarter-finals action, hosting Coventry United. 

Lydia Williams made the start in goals for the Gunners, keeping a clean sheet in Arsenal's 4-0 win. Stina Blackstenius got the scoring started against the Championship side just before the half-time interval. 


Beth Mead and Nikita Parris added to the tally after the break, Vivianne Miedema came off the bench to finish the scoring off and send the Gunners into the semi-finals. 

Caitlin Foord came off the bench in the 57th minute to see out the win, while Steph Catley was an unused substitute.

Manchester City played their second game of the week, this time a Women's FA Cup quarter-final fixture against Everton. 

Alanna Kennedy made the start for Gareth Taylor's side with City's attack applying the pressure early against the Toffees. 

The breakthrough finally came before the break with Lauren Hemp finding the opener, Lucy Bronze whipped in a cross that found the head of Ellen White who nodded it on to Hemp. 


Hemp doubled the advantage early in the second half, then Caroline Weir added the third on the hour mark. 

Ellen White rounded out the scoring in stoppage time to seal the 4-0 win and send City into the semi-finals. 

Hayley Raso remained an unused substitute on the bench against her former side.

Defending Women's FA Cup champions Chelsea hosted Birmingham City in their quarter-final tie. 

Emma Hayes opted for Sam Kerr on the bench, with a busy schedule coming up for the Blues. Skipper Magdalena Eriksson opened the scoring right before the half-time break, finishing from close range after a set-piece. 

A brace to Bethany England and goals to Niamh Charles and Drew Spence secured the 5-0 win over Birmingham. 

Chelsea is set to make their ninth appearance in the last 11 seasons in the Women's FA Cup semi-finals.

The last game of Women's FA Cup action saw Ipswich Town host West Ham United. Ipswich Town is the only third-tier side to reach the Women's FA Cup quarter-finals, and they came up against WSL side West Ham. 

Mackenzie Arnold started in goals for Olli Harder's side and the 2019 runners-up had the ideal start, Lisa Evans finding the back of the net just after the half-hour mark. 


Ipswich Town only registered one shot on target with a relatively quiet afternoon for Arnold in goals. Tameka Yallop came off the bench in the 74th minute.

The semi-final draw for the Women's FA Cup will take place tomorrow morning at 5:30 am AEDT. 

Moving over to America, Emily van Egmond was not named in the matchday squad San Diego Wave FC's inaugural NWSL game with Casey Stoney opting to rest the midfielder for their opening game against fellow newcomers Angel City FC. 

Angel City opened the scoring just after half time with Savannah McCaskill scoring the first goal for Angel City. Kaleigh Riehl tied it up in the 81st minute, making history for San Diego as well being the first goal scorer for the new side. 

The score ended 1-1, with all teams in the NWSL Challenge Cup Group B recording a 1-1 stalemate over the weekend. 

Moving over to France, Ellie Carpenter's Lyon bounced back after dropping their first points of the season last weekend with a 3-0 win over Dijon. 

Catarina Macario opened the scoring less than nine minutes into the game. The American doubled the advantage before the half-time break, Carpenter sending a cross into an unmarked Macario who sent a rocket into the top corner. 


Melvine Malard had her 12th goal of the season to seal the 3-0 win, with Lyon retaining a three-point advantage at the top of the table. 

Over in Montpellier, Mary Fowler started on the bench as her side hosted Guingamp. 

The hosts took a 4-0 lead into the break with goals to Faustine Robert, Nérilia Mondésir and Lena Petermann for Montpellier. 

Robert was on the scoresheet again after the break, while Esther Mbakem-Niaro finished the scoring to see out the 6-0 win. 

Fowler came off the bench in the 66th minute as Montpellier recorded their most successful win of the season and hang on to fourth place. 

In the Netherlands, Amy Harrison's PSV is through to the KNVB Women's Cup Final after beating Den Haag 2-1. 

Harrison came off the bench in the win, PSV will now take on AFC Ajax to claim the trophy. 

Moving over to Scandinavia, Teagan Micah and Charli Grant both started for FC Rosengård as they hosted Eskilstuna in the Swedish Women's Cup semi-final. 

 

Mimmi Larsson opened the scoring just 15 minutes into the game, sending Rosengård into their seventh Swedish Women's Cup final with Micah keeping a clean sheet to ensure the win. 

FC Rosengård will now take on Swedish Women's Cup defending champions BK Häcken in the final.

Meanwhile, in Denmark, Fortuna Hjørring hosted AGF in the second leg of the Danish Women's Cup semi-finals. The first leg saw a 2-2 scoreline. 

Fortuna Hjørring found the opener before the half-time break, with Rebekka Frederiksen firing the hosts into the lead.

Clare Wheeler and Angela Beard both started for the side in green, while Jenna McCormick lined up on the other side for AGF. 

Fortuna will now face last year's Danish Women's Cup runners up FC Thy-Thisted Q in the final. 

Our final stop takes us to Norway, with Karly Roestbakken's LSK Kvinner beginning their Toppserien season against Kolbotn. 

A five-goal thriller was in store for LSK's first game of the season, going on to win 3-2. Roestbakken remained an unused substitute on the bench.
