Background

Since 1988 Australia and Brazil have been doing battle. The rivalry between these sides means these contests are always entertaining, from FIFA Women's World Cups to Olympics and friendlies.

Both sides fell just short at Tokyo 2020 with Brazil crashing out in the quarter finals to eventual gold medallists, Canada, while Australia missed out on a medal after losing to the United States in the bronze medal game.

The Commonwealth Bank Matildas' quest to play as many high quality games against unique opponents continues with this two-game series.

Tony Gustavsson will be looking for his first friendly win as Australian boss as he continues to expand the playing pool ahead of the team's next few major tournaments.

The last time these sides met, the Commonwealth Bank Matildas earned a 3-2 win in Montpellier at the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup.

Brazil will be itching to get one over Australia - they haven't recorded a victory over the Commonwealth Bank Matildas since 2016. Meanwhile the Aussies will look to extend their current winning streak over the South American champions.

Squad

Tony Gustavsson has selected a 23-player squad with plenty of familiar faces returning.

Ellie Carpenter, Emily van Egmond, Kyah Simon, and Caitlin Foord have been reinstated after missing the Republic of Ireland friendly. Clare Wheeler, Charli Grant and Angie Beard all maintain their spots in the squad after debuting in Dublin while Jamilla Rankin and Remy Siemsen are once again in line to earn cap number one.
