‘They’ll wear it with a lot of pride’: Milicic excited by Westfield Matildas’ new look

It’s taken him back to his playing days and Ante Milicic loves the new kit for the Westfield Matildas and is adamant they will wear it with pride in every match they play.

The all-new Australia home jersey was unveiled earlier this month, part of a first-ever national team collection designed exclusively for the Westfield Matildas.

It’s the strip the team will wear when they head to France in June for the FIFA Women’s World Cup.

For Milicic, the special design and new strip has just reinforced the huge few months ahead for the Westfield Matildas and surfaced some familiar memories of the Australian national team.

“I like it because I know the girls like it," he said.

“They’re really happy with it, they’re comfortable in it, they’re excited to wear it specifically for our team.

“Nike’s done a fantastic job with it and the players will definitely, as always, wear that Matildas jersey with a lot of pride.”

The Westfield Matildas will wear the new home kit for the first time in next month’s friendly international against the USA in Colorado.

“The game is all about building on what we did in the Cup of Nations, giving players an opportunity and keep working on our playing style,” said Milicic.
