Teagan Micah voted both POTM and CadburyAU Moment & a Half of the Match!

Congratulations to Teagan Micah, who was not only voted Player of the Match, but her penalty save was also voted the Cadbury Dairy Milk Moment & a Half of the Match by you!

The moment that will stand out in the minds of fans, is Micah's heroics between the sticks, particularly THAT penalty.

As the end of the first half of extra time neared, Great Britain was awarded a penalty. The match was level at 2-2.

Up stepped Caroline Weir. But between her and a lead for her team was Teagan Micah.

The ‘keeper guessed the right way and parried it away from goal and out of danger.

But the save from the spot was just one of the big moments Micah produced. In a knockout game, Micah was more than up to the challenge.

She made seven saves, the joint-most by any goalkeeper in a game at this Olympic Women’s tournament so far.

She also joined illustrious company; it was the joint-most saves by any Australian in a game since the beginning of the 2016 campaign when Lydia Williams produced seven against Brazil and Germany.

MORE: Matildas through to first Olympic semi-final with pulsating win over Great Britain

In May of this year, Teagan Micah hadn’t even made her Matildas debut.

Now, the 23-year-old has helped Australia secure a win over Team GB and a spot in the semi-finals of the Olympics in her fifth game for the national team.

Micah’s journey to this point has seen go around the world. It started in Victoria and Queensland, and has since taken her to Norway and Sweden via Los Angeles.

Strong stints in the W-League, including a player of the year season in the most recent campaign for Melbourne City, came off a stunning four-year college career at UCLA.

She has also announced her move to current top of the table Swedish side, FC Rosengård, where she will link up with fellow Matilda, Charli Grant.

After heading over to France with the squad for the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup as the third choice goalkeeper, she has come a long way, but there is still plenty to come for Micah and these Matildas.
