Blackburn Rovers pair of Brett Emerton and Lucas Neill both played full games in the 3-0 win over Leeds United, with both grabbing goals. Brett scored the opening goal of the match in the 60th minute, while Neill (pictured right on left side) scored the third late in the match, to wrap up what turned out to be a comfortable win.

Frustrated midfielder Josip Skoko finally got a start for Wigan Athletic in their match with Watford, playing the full 120 minutes, after the match was locked at 0-0 at full time. Wigan eventually won the match 3-0 to maintain the Latic-s magnificent start to the season.

Ahmad Elrich received his second start for Fulham in as many games, but lasted only 57 minutes, as Fulham struggled to impose itself on fellow Premier League strugglers West Brom. Fulham eventually lost 3-2 in extra time.

There was good and bad news in the Crystal Palace and Liverpool tie at Selhurst Park. Tony Popovic once again did not appear for Crystal Palace as he recovers from injury, further hurting his chances of being involved in the two matches against Uruguay.

On the other hand, Harry Kewell started and played 65 minutes for Liverpool. Unlike the match against Fulham, Kewell imposed himself much more on the game, and went close to giving Liverpool the lead on several occasions, but was denied by good saves from Palace keeper Speroni. Just before going off, Speroni denied him again with a terrific low down save and within a minute of his departure, Palace scored what was the eventual winner.

Quite a number will also be in action tonight, with the highlight being Tim Cahill-s Everton taking on Middlesbrough that is likely to feature the two Mark-s - Schwarzer and Viduka. There is also a full round of matches in Italy, while Luke Wilkshire will play a catch up fixture for Bristol City.

On Thursday night, John Aloisi will be looking for another as Alaves plays Espanyol in a Primera League game.
