Sam Kerr and Ellie Carpenter shortlisted for 2022 FIFA FIFPRO Women’s World 11

Sam Kerr and Ellie Carpenter have both been shortlisted for the FIFA FIFPro Women's World 11, both being named in the 23-player list by FIFPro overnight.

This marks the third consecutive year that the duo has made the shortlist alongside one another, however, both have never been named in the final Women's World 11 list.

FIFPRO and FIFA announced the 23 players who received the most votes for the 2022 FIFA FIFPRO Women’s World 11, the only global player award organized by the players and for the players.

The FIFA FIFPRO Women’s World 11 squad consists of the best 23 women’s players based on their performances during the period 7 August 2021 to 31 July 2022 inclusive.

Kerr is the only player representing Chelsea on the list, in a year that saw the forward help the Blues to a third consecutive FA Women's Super League title, and back-to-back Women's FA Cups, while the forward picked up the Golden Boot for the second year in a row.

Carpenter is named alongside four of her Olympique Lyonnais teammates, in a season that saw them claim their 8th UEFA Women's Champions League title, beating FC Barcelona in the final 3-1.

The nominated lineup will include a goalkeeper and at least three defenders, midfielders and attackers, with the final spot in the team being assigned to the outfield player with the next highest votes tally.
