Westfield Matildas star suffers injury blow

Katrina Gorry is confident she'll be fit for the Westfield Matildas FIFA Women's World Cup campaign this year despite being ruled out of the remainder of the Westfield W-League 2018/19 Season due to injury.

Brisbane Roar confirmed on Thursday Gorry has been battling an ankle problem, with scans confirming she has suffered a syndesmosis injury [high ankle sprain] that means she’s unable to play again this campaign.

It’s a bitter blow for Mel Andreatta’s side, who have emerged as genuine title contenders over the last few weeks.

Gorry, who has made five appearances so far this season, took to social media on Thursday morning to confirm her season-ending injury.

Roar are hopeful of signing an injury replacement for Gorry as soon as possible.

While Gorry is set to be sidelined for a couple of months, the injury shouldn’t rule her out of the Westfield Matildas FIFA Women’s World Cup tilt in France in June.
