Jada Whyman and Cortnee Vine’s Sydney FC got one over Katrina Gorry, Larissa Crummer and the Brisbane Roar, winning comprehensively 4-1. Gorry continued to be influential for the Roar but her team could not overcome the firepower of premiership contenders, Sydney FC.

Among the goalscorers for the Sky Blue were Princess Ibini and CommBank Young Matilda Sarah Hunter. It was Sydney FC’s first game without Remy Siemsen, who has signed for a European club.

A second goal of the season to Alex Chidiac was the difference in Melbourne Victory’s tight 1-0 win over Canberra United. Her firm left-footed strike after a sumptuous through ball from Young Matilda, Paige Zois, put Victory up in the first half and they never relinquished their lead. Elise Kellond-Knight was left out of the matchday squad after falling ill.

In the final game of Saturday afternoon, the Newcastle Jets upset Adelaide United 2-0 thanks to a Lauren Allen brace.

Western United continued their perfect record on Sunday evening, coming from behind to beat Perth Glory 3-2. Chloe Logarzo came off the bench to score the equalising goal at 2-2 before American Hannah Keane scored the winner. Logarzo has been decisive off the bench for Western United several times this season and it can only be a matter of time before the CommBank Matilda is ready to start a game.

In the final game of the round, the Wellington Phoenix and Western Sydney Wanderers drew 1-1 on Monday morning AEDT. The Young Matildas captain at the 2022 u20 World Cup, Sheridan Gallagher, scored the Wanderers’ goal.
