Bryleeh Henry scored her first league goal since March 2023 as Melbourne City secured a late victory over Sydney FC.
Elsewhere, Emily Gielnik went back to equal-top of the golden boot race with a goal in an important win against the Central Coast Mariners, Alex Chidiac scored in the same game, and Natasha Prior was on the scoresheet for the Jets.

Western Sydney Wanderers 4 – 1 Newcastle Jets
Western Sydney Wanderers have won in consecutive games for the first time this season with a decisive 4-1 victory over the Newcastle Jets.
Tash Prior was on the scoresheet early, but that is where the joy for the Jets ended. Bronte Trew, Ena Harada, Amy Harrison and Holly Caspers scored for the Wanderers and piled on the misery for Newcastle. The result means that the Wanderers have lifted themselves off the foot of the table into tenth place, above Newcastle and Sydney FC.
Prior started and played the full match for the Jets.
Adelaide United 1 – 1 Canberra United
Adelaide United and Canberra United played out a 1-1 draw in a match that will have implications for the top-six race.
Despite Adelaide having most of the run of the game, and 67% possession, it was Canberra who scored first. Darcey Malone scored her first A-League Women's goal in the first half to give Canberra the lead and leave the Reds chasing the game.
Chelsie Dawber equalised for Adelaide in the 73rd minute. The home side pushed for the winner but were unable to find it, with both teams involved in goal-line clearances and close calls. The result means that Adelaide finished the round in third and Canberra in seventh, only one point away from the top six.
Matilda McNamara started and played the full match for Adelaide while Michelle Heyman did the same for Canberra.
Melbourne City 2 – 1 Sydney FC
Melbourne City have come from behind for the eighth time this season to overcome Sydney FC and extend their unbeaten run to 17 league games.
Mackenzie Hawkesby scored in the first half for Sydney after pouncing on an error from City as they played out from the back, and the score remained 1-0 at half-time.
However, City bounced back within seconds of the second half starting. Mariana Speckmaier equalised after a run that began from within her own half before Bryleeh Henry scored an 89th-minute winner that marked her first league goal in 714 days.
Holly McNamara, Laura Hughes and Karly Roestbakken started the match for Melbourne City. Bryleeh Henry came off the bench in the second half to score the winner while Leah Davidson made her return from injury in stoppage time.
Melbourne Victory 2 – 0 Central Coast Mariners
Melbourne Victory ended in the round in second after defeating the Central Coast Mariners 2-0.
Emily Gielnik scored in the first half to put herself back at the top of the Golden Boot race, despite missing a penalty later in the half. Alex Chidiac doubled their advantage just before the break and Victory were able to hold on to the win.
Gielnik and Chidiac both started for Victory, with Alana Murphy also starting and providing the assist for Gielnik’s goal. Jessika Nash started and played the full match for the Mariners.
Brisbane Roar 0 – 0 Western United
Brisbane Roar held on for an important scoreless draw against a dominant Western United.
Western had more possession and more shots in Brisbane as they hoped to avenge their heavy defeat to the same opponents earlier in the season. However, they were unable to get past an incredibly impressive Olivia Sekany in the Roar’s goal and the game ended in Brisbane’s first draw of the season.
Chloe Lincoln and Chloe Logarzo both started for Western, with Lincoln making her 50th A-League appearance in the game. Sharn and Laini Freier were both unavailable for Brisbane, while Tameka Yallop started in the middle of the park.
Perth Glory 2 – 1 Wellington Phoenix
Perth Glory were triumphant in the distance derby, overcoming the Wellington Phoenix 2-1.
Isobel Dalton scored for Perth in the first half before Olivia Fergusson equalised just before the break. Perth were the dominant team in the first half without getting their rewards but it was in the second half – when, arguably, the Phoenix had grown into the game more – that they would score the winner.
A ball intended for the feet of Kelli Brown instead took an unfortunate deflection off defender Tiana Jaber and found its way into the back of Wellington’s net. Despite a few late chances, they could not find another equaliser, and Perth walked away with all three points.
