A battle of the West kicks off the A-League Women on Saturday, 4pm AEDT, as Western United hosts Western Sydney Wanderers at City Vista Recreation Reserve. Chloe Logarzo has been a regular for the Melbourne side this season, and her form in midfield is crucial to releasing the likes of last season’s Golden Boot winner Hannah Keane and Young Matilda Kahli Johnson. The Wanderers, meanwhile, are searching for their first win of the season after missing last week through ground unavailability.

Perth Glory travel to Wellington Phoenix for the Distance Derby on Saturday, 5.15pm AEDT. It is a hotly anticipated contest, with both teams flying high early in the season. Third-place Phoenix will be hoping to inflict Perth’s first defeat - but with the likes of Young Matildas Georgia Cassidy and Grace Johnston in career-best form, the Glory will back themselves to keep their undefeated run going.

Sunday’s fixtures get underway at 2pm AEDT, with Melbourne Victory taking on the Central Coast Mariners at the Home of the Matildas. Lydia Williams and Elise Kellond-Knight are expected to start for Victory. Kellond-Knight is beginning to dominate in midfield as her match fitness continues to grow, while Williams will be hoping for a third clean sheet of the season.

Emily Gielnik is unavailable for Victory with a hamstring injury. Kyah Simon has been named in the extended squad for the Central Coast Mariners, still awaiting her first appearance of the season.

Emily van Egmond and the Newcastle Jets will travel to McKellar Park to take on Canberra United on Sunday, 4pm AEDT. Van Egmond made an instant impact against Melbourne City, scoring a goal and an assist in their 3-2 defeat, and will be hoping to continue her form in Canberra. Newcastle’s opponents currently sit winless on one point but have two games in hand on teams above them.

At the same time of Sunday, 4pm AEDT, Sydney FC host Melbourne City in a blockbuster fixture at Sydney Olympic Park Athletic Centre. Melbourne City are currently undefeated and equal on points with top-of-the-table Perth Glory, but the defending premiers and champions will back themselves.

Cortnee Vine will miss the match with the hamstring injury she acquired against the Philippines in the last international break. Holly McNamara also misses out, this being the first match since the devastating news that the youngster tore her ACL against Newcastle.

The final match of the round sees Brisbane Roar host their first doubleheader at Suncorp Stadium in four years, taking on Adelaide United on Sunday, 5.45pm AEDT. The Roar are winless after starting the season with six points from a possible six, and new coach Alex Smith will be hoping to arrest the mini-form slump on Sunday. Tameka Yallop was forced to start from the bench with a minor injury last week but will be hoping to be fit enough to be named in the first eleven this time around.
