Matildas at Home: Gorry stunner helps Brisbane to first win

While some A-League Women's matches were unfortunately postponed, those that went ahead delivered some spectacular goals and results.

Sydney FC had their goal scoring boots on in their 5-0 win over Wellington Phoenix to kick off round five.

Mackenzie Hawkesby's first half hat trick was complemented by goals to Cortnee Vine and Rachel Lowe.

Jada Whyman didn't have much to do in the Sky Blue goal, while Remy Siemsen was in the thick of the action up top, as was Jess Nash who consistently pushed forward from defence.

The first game of 2022 brought plenty of goals with Adelaide United defeating Perth Glory 4-2.

Dylan Holmes made her first appearance for the Reds since re-signing and her teammates made it one to remember.

A Chelsie Dawber double and goals to Cyera Hintzen and Alana Jancevski saw the game poised at 2-2.

But a Matilda McNamara header and Emily Condon free kick saw Adelaide take home all three points.

The final game of the round had Brisbane Roar finally get off the mark with a 4-2 win over Melbourne Victory.

It wasn't an ideal start for the Roar with Jessie Rasschaert's own goal and Lynn Williams' effort putting the home team up 2-0.

Katrina Gorry's long range effort would be initially stopped by Mel Maizels before Larissa Crummer tapped it in. Gorry would eventually go one better, scoring an audacious chipped strike.

Shea Connors and Ayesha Norrie scored last minute goals to secure the team its first three-point haul of the season.

Jamilla Rankin and the Brisbane Roar defence did will to keep Victory's attacking threats quiet.

Commonwealth Bank Matildas' Courtney Nevin played a full game while Kyra Cooney-Cross was sent off for a challenge on Crummer.
