Matildas Abroad Preview: Spot in the Conti Cup Final up for grabs

A spot in the Conti Cup final is up for grabs when Arsenal take on Aston Villa and Manchester City host Chelsea in the semi-finals, with five Aussies looking to help their side across the line.

Arsenal v Aston Villa

The defending Conti Cup champions, Arsenal, will be looking to book their spot in back-to-back finals when they face Aston Villa. The Gunners defeated the London City Lionesses 4-0 to book their spot in the semi-final of the league cup.

Caitlin Foord, Steph Catley and Kyra Cooney-Cross will be hoping to be in action when they face Aston Villa. The winner of the game will face the winner of the other semi-final fixture in Chelsea & Manchester City, both of whom are former champions. 

This game will kick off on Thursday morning at 6:15am AEDT. 

Manchester City v Chelsea

Mary Fowler and Alanna Kennedy's Manchester City will be hoping to book their spot in a sixth Conti Cup final after last appearing in the final during the 2021/22 season when they lifted the trophy.

Gareth Taylor's side booked their spot in the semi-finals after a 1-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur, thanks to a first-half goal from Yui Hasegawa. Meanwhile, Chelsea booked their spot in the final four after a dominant 5-0 win over Sunderland.

This game will kick off on Friday morning at 6:15am AEDT.
