Matildas Abroad Preview: Chelsea and City aim to keep their unbeaten streak intact

Chelsea and Manchester City aim to keep their unbeaten streak intact; while Arsenal will be looking to get back to winning ways against the Toffees.

England

Kicking off with Emily Gielnik's Aston Villa who will be aiming to make it three wins in a row when they take on third-place Manchester United. 

Gielnik has featured on the bench in the Villans' last two victories over all competitions, looking to make her return for Carla Ward's side after sustaining an injury back in October on international duty. 

This game will kick off on Saturday night at 11:30 pm AEDT

Over in London, Caitlin Foord and Steph Catley's Arsenal will be looking to bounce back from their first defeat of the season when they host Clare Wheeler's Everton.

The Gunners faced a narrow 3-2 defeat to Manchester United in their last WSL outing, their first defeat in all competitions this season, however, an ACL injury to star forward Beth Mead in the game sees Arsenal's injury list grow.

While the Toffees also suffered defeat in their last WSL outing, going down 2-1 to Manchester City. Everton has never defeated Arsenal in the league, with Foord getting on the scoresheet in the Gunners' 3-0 win over the Liverpool-based side earlier this year in a pre-season friendly.

This game will kick off on Sunday morning at 1:00 am AEDT

Meanwhile, Sam Kerr's ladder leaders Chelsea will take on last-placed Leicester City. The Blues' last outing in the WSL saw a packed-out Stamford Bridge watch Chelsea defeat Tottenham Hotspur 3-0, with goals to Sam Kerr, Erin Cuthbert and Guro Reiten. 

Since that victory, Chelsea has continued their unbeaten streak in the UWCL, beating Real Madrid 2-0 to stay at the top of the group and become the only team so far in the group stage that has not conceded a goal. 

This game will kick off on Sunday morning at 2:00 am AEDT

Mackenzie Arnold's West Ham United will take on Liverpool as the Hammers aim to make it five wins for the season. 

 

West Ham clinched a narrow 1-0 win over Leicester City in their last outing, while Liverpool has recorded back-to-back 3-3 draws. 

This game will kick off on Monday morning at 1:00 am AEDT

Lastly, Mary Fowler, Hayley Raso and Alanna Kennedy's Manchester City host Brighton & Hove Albion as City look to make it six wins on the bounce in the WSL.

City's last game saw them beat Sunderland 3-0 in the Conti Cup, with Raso finding the back of the net and being named the Player of the Match in the win.

France

Over in Paris, Lydia Williams' Paris Saint-Germain will be looking to make it eight wins in the D1 when they host Paris FC in the derby. 

Paris FC sits just five points behind PSG in third place, with Williams' side aiming to keep in touch with Ellie Carpenter's Lyon at the top of the table. This game will kick off on Sunday night at 11:00 pm AEDT.

Denmark

Our last stop takes us to Denmark, Matilda McNamara's AGF will be looking to bounce back from defeat when they host Farum. 


Farum sits one spot in front of AGF, with a three-point difference between the two sides. This game will kick off on Saturday night at 11:30 pm AEDT.
