Kerr equals four-season NWSL record with Chicago hat trick

Sam Kerr is no stranger to breaking records, whether it be for the Westfield Matildas, in the Westfield W-League or in the National Women’s Soccer League.

And in Monday morning’s return to NWSL action for Chicago Red Stars – in which Kerr netted a hat-trick in a 3-2 win over Orlando Pride – the super star striker added another incredible feat to her name.

Chicago had not found the net and lost all three matches while Kerr was at the World Cup with Australia but it took just 55 minutes for her to complete the treble, meaning she has now scored the Red Stars’ last seven goals.

Moreover, Kerr’s seven shots on target were the joint-most a player has unleashed in any game across the last four NWSL seasons.

Despite missing a month of NWSL action due to her international commitments, Kerr leads the Golden Boot race with nine goals, four ahead of Utah Royals striker Amy Rodriguez (five), and has scored Chicago's last seven goals.
