Gorry joins Vittsjö on a one-year deal, linking up with fellow Queenslander Clare Polkinghorne who signed a contract extension at the Swedish side late last year.

The 29-year-old joins Vittsjö after spending the 2021/22 season with Brisbane Roar, rejoining her hometown team after the birth of her daughter Harper in August of 2021.

“I'm really excited to be joining Vittsjö GIK for the upcoming season. I´ve heard a lot of positive things about the club and team. I'm looking forward to getting over there and meeting everyone." Gorry told vittsjogik.se

Gorry was excited to sign her first overseas contract alongside Harper. Erika Nilsson, chair of the Vittsjö GIK women's section, explained how the club would help Katrina and Harper make themselves feel at home in Sweden.

Head coach Gareth Taylor praised his new signing.

“Hiring a single parent who takes their daughter to a new country is, of course, a challenge and places demands on us as a club in many ways.

"But we have a very good network of contacts around the club and we have many "nannies" who look forward to meeting both Katrina and her little Harper.

“Katrina is a very exciting profile and we are incredibly positive about signing such a qualified player.

"We have got another Australian national team player and another Vittsjö baby and we really like that! ” Nilsson said.

Vittsjö GIK, who finished fifth in the 2021 Damallsvenskan season, was just out of reach of a UEFA Women's Champions League spot and hope the new signing of Gorry will help bolster their chances.

The Damallsvenskan season begins on the 27th of March, with Vittsjö GIK playing six club friendlies in the lead up to the start of the season.
