Emotional Logarzo leads Football Australia at Mardi Gras march

For the first time ever, Football Australia proudly marched in the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras (SGLMG). It was an emotional occasion for CommBank Matilda, Chloe Logarzo, who led the march at the helm.

"Honestly, the Mardi Gras unites so many people and football to me has always done that. It's brought people together from around the world, no matter their sexual orientation, their ethnicity, who they love or what they love doing.

"That's the beauty of it and Football Australia just does it so well," Logarzo said when asked about the significance of Football Australia marching at the SGLMG.

"I'm so proud to be here, this is the first time we've been part of  Mardi Gras. I'm so honoured to be representing Football Australia and representing my country, not just on the field, but here, as who I am."

An historic milestone, the midfielder explained why supporting the LGBTQI+ community in a proud and public way, is so important.

"It's so amazing to see because I didn't have this growing up and I wish I did," an emotional Logarzo said.

"I wish I had (LGBTQI+) role models who could be here and experience this and to know that you're loved and unified.

"It's amazing to see athletes standing up and being who they want to be and I'm so proud to be a role model for the younger generation.

"If you're out there and you're feeling lonely, just know that you're accepted and you're loved. There are people out there who want you to be loved, to feel safe and supported."
