Emily van Egmond returns to Newcastle Jets on a four-game guest stint

Emily van Egmond returns to her hometown club Newcastle Jets, signing on a four-game guest stint in the A-League Women's. 

The midfielder returns to the club after helping her NWSL club San Diego Wave to their first piece of silverware, lifting the NWSL Shield after finishing the regular season at the top of the table.

Van Egmond returns to the Jets for another stint at the club, her most recent time playing for the club was during the 2021/22 season when she made 3 appearances in her fifth stint with the club. 

“We’re extremely excited to bring back one of our own in Emily van Egmond to the club for a guest stint. We’re looking forward to having her here and around the team to help guide the younger players within the team and we look forward to seeing her run out this weekend at No.2 Sportsground against Melbourne City." Newcastle Jets Executive Chairman Shane Mattiske told newcastlejetsfc.com.au.

“The team and I are beyond excited to have Emily here with us for the next few games. She has had an extensive career so far at the highest level, with a lot of players including myself, look up to her. We’re looking forward to playing with her and learning from her. I believe that we have a number of talented young players in this squad and by having someone of Emily’s stature involved in the team it will only benefit their development this season.” Captain Cass Davis said on van Egmond's return

The midfielder will wear the number 5 jersey and could be in line to make her return when her hometown club hosts her former club in Melbourne City this Sunday at 4pm AEDT.
