Ellie Carpenter voted AFC International Player of the Week

Westfield Matildas defender Ellie Carpenter has made history by becoming the first women's footballer to claim the AFC International Player of the Week. 

Carpenter was nominated after her starring performance in Lyon's 5-0 win over Montpellier at the start of November. 

The 20-year-old played the full 90 minutes, ending up with a pass-completion rate of 86% and a total of 15 duels won, as well as helping keep a clean sheet. 

Carpenter was a clear winner in the poll - receiving 38% of the votes - with the next-best player coming in with 22.5%. 

OL sit top of the Division 1 Féminine table, having won all seven of their opening games of the season. 

Their next match is this Saturday morning (AEDT) against 10th-place Soyaux-Charente.
