Ellie Carpenter makes impact on Lyon debut

Westfield Matildas defender Ellie Carpenter made her debut for Olympique Lyonnais in their pre-season friendly against PSV at Groupama Stadium.

Carpenter was substituted into the match in the 62nd minute with the hosts holding a 2-0 advantage in their opening match of the  Trophée Féminin Veolia.

Making the most of earning her first minutes, the 20 year old recorded her first assist in the 90th minute. Her low cross was finished sharply by England international Nikita Parris to round out Lyon’s 4-0 victory.

The match also featured Carpenter's national teammates with Kyah Simon and Amy Harrison lining up for PSV.

Earlier in the day, Mary Fowler continued to notch up match minutes with Montpellier as she started in their match against Italian champions Juventus.

Despite drawing level in the 69th minute, Montpellier went down 2-1.

The final set of matches in the four team tournament are scheduled for this Saturday,  with PSV taking on Montpellier and Lyon clashing with Juventus.
