Ellie Carpenter celebrates One Year To Go until the FIFA Women's World Cup

With today marking one year to go until the FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia & New Zealand 2023TM, Ellie Carpenter took fans behind the scenes at FIFA's Unity Pitch unveiling at Barangaroo.

On a rainy day in Sydney, a historic milestone ticked over for the FIFA Women's World Cup, with only 365 days to go until the world's biggest women's sporting event graces Australian and New Zealand shores. 

In a behind-the-scenes video, our cameras followed Ellie around at the event to give fans a glimpse inside the unveiling of the Unity Pitch, launched today at Barangaroo and open to fans until the 24th of July before it travels to all the host cities.

The morning started with a Welcome to Country, followed by speeches from; Chief Operating Officer Australia, Jane Fernandez, FIFA Secretary General, Fatma Samoura, Federal Minister For Sport, Anika Wells and New South Wales Minister for Women, the Minister for Regional Health and the Minister for Mental Health, Bronnie Taylor.

Fans and guests were then invited to watch the ribbon cut, officially unveiling the Unity Pitch, before a special game of Fans v Stars and some local football teams took to the pitch to play small-sided games.

Tickets to go on sale from 6 October – available from just $20 AUD/NZD for adults and $10 AUD/NZD for children.
