The match up was a familiar one with this being the fourth final between the two teams since 2013.

Eugenie Le Sommer opened the scoring in the 15th minute. Her initial shot was saved by Friederike Abt in the Wolfsburg goal but she buried the rebound.

Saki Kumagai doubled the advantage with a centimetre perfect strike from outside the box.

Alexandra Popp scored a strong header for Wolfsburg just before the hour mark to bring the score back to 2-1.

However, in the 88th minute, Sara Bjork Gunnarsdottir but the result beyond doubt with a close range flick.

The celebrations will have to be kept to a minimum with the new Division 1 Feminine season beginning on September 5th.

Lyon will open their domestic campaign on Monday morning Australian time at home to Paris FC.
