Carpenter and Harrison ruled out of Westfield Matildas squad

Westfield Matildas Ellie Carpenter and Amy Harrison have been ruled out of Australia’s international friendlies against Germany and the Netherlands on 11 April and 14 April (AEST) respectively.

Football Australia Chief Executive Officer, James Johnson, said:

“Football Australia’s top priority is to protect the health, safety and wellbeing of our players and staff, and we have developed a stringent set of protocols to ensure this, whether they are based in Australia or internationally. As part of these protocols, every player and staff member is monitored and screened prior to their entry to assembly.”

“Unfortunately, through no fault of their own, Ellie and Amy didn’t clear the protocols prior to their scheduled travel to camp from their respective bases in Lyon and Eindhoven.”

The Westfield Matildas will play world number two Germany on Sunday morning (AEST), and world number four, the Netherlands on Wednesday morning (AEST).

Both matches will be played behind closed doors, with the Westfield Matildas’ assembly operating under strict COVID-19 protocols as established by Football Australia’s National Teams Unit.

Carpenter and Harrison will not be replaced in Australia’s squad for April 2021.

The Westfield Matildas’ fixtures against Germany and the Netherlands will be broadcast live in Australia on FOX SPORTS, Kayo, ABC TV, and My Football Live App.
