Emily Gielnik helped Bayern Munich secure three points in their final match before the winter break in Germany’s Frauen Bundesliga.
The Reds edged FFC Frankfurt 3-2 on the road at the Stadion am Brentanobad thanks to Melanie Lupolz’s 88th-minute winner.
Westfield Matildas attacker Gielnik came on as a 78th-minute substitute with the match locked at 2-2 to help her side take the points back to Bavaria on Saturday (AEDT).
Laura Freigang had given the home side the advantage on nine minutes but Netherlands international Lineth Beerensteyn equalised for the visitors on 29 minutes.
Carolin Simon tipped the match in Bayern’s favour three minutes after half-time but Freigang squared it back up in the 72nd minute.
Gielnik was sent on in place of Linda Dallmann with the match hanging in the balance, and Lupolz struck the winner two minutes from time.
The win keeps Bayern third in the Frauen Bundesliga ladder, six points behind leaders Wolfsburg and three back from Hoffenheim.
German football takes a break over the winter months, with Bayern returning with an away match against Bayern Leverkusen on 16 February 2020.
Lisa De Vanna featured in Fiorentina’s 4-0 win against Inter Milan in Italy’s Serie A on Sunday (AEDT).
Tatiana Bonetti hit a hat-trick and Caterina Fracaros scored an own goal to clinch a resounding win for the second-placed side.
De Vanna was introduced from the bench for Spanish forward Paloma Lazaro in the 73rd minute as La Viola wrapped up the win.
The Italian league breaks until 11 January, with Fiorentina six points behind top of the table Juventus.
