Aussies Abroad: Gielnik helps Bayern to dramatic late win

Emily Gielnik helped Bayern Munich secure three points in their final match before the winter break in Germany’s Frauen Bundesliga.

Westfield Matildas attacker Gielnik came on as a 78th-minute substitute with the match locked at 2-2 to help her side take the points back to Bavaria on Saturday (AEDT).

Laura Freigang had given the home side the advantage on nine minutes but Netherlands international Lineth Beerensteyn equalised for the visitors on 29 minutes.

Carolin Simon tipped the match in Bayern’s favour three minutes after half-time but Freigang squared it back up in the 72nd minute.

Gielnik was sent on in place of Linda Dallmann with the match hanging in the balance, and Lupolz struck the winner two minutes from time.
