Alanna Kennedy signs permanent deal with Tottenham Hotspur

Westfield Matildas star Alanna Kennedy will extend her stay in the FA Women's Super League (WSL) after Tottenham Hotspur announced that her initial loan deal has been converted into a permanent transfer.

Kennedy originally put pen to paper on a short-term loan from NWSL club Orlando Pride in August but has since impressed in her 12 appearances for the London-based club, leading them to lock her in for the remainder of the campaign.

The former Sydney FC and Melbourne City mainstay has made 12 Spurs appearances so far, spending some time in a defensive midfield role that may be unfamiliar for Westfield Matildas fans used to seeing her marshal the Australian backline.

“I’m so excited and happy to be here,” Alanna told Tottenham Hostpur.com.

“When I signed there was always the potential for me to stay longer and when the decision had to be made, I didn’t feel ready to end my time here.

“As a team we’re moving in an upward direction and starting to show what we are capable of. I believe in our goals and want to help the team fulfil our potential this season.

“We have more to build on and more to give in this league. We want to lift the Club to where we think it should be and finish in the top half of the table. I’m looking forward to getting back out there this year.”

Spurs are currently eighth in the WSL and are scheduled to take on seventh-placed Birmingham City on Sunday.
