Cushla is currently studying Bachelor of Medical Science (Pre-Medicine) - Majoring in Physiology - at Sydney University.
One of Rue's biggest inspirations is fellow Australian defender, Ellie Carpenter, who like Cushla, grew up in the country and the two play the same position.
Rue loves some throwback music, including Cold Chisel, Fleetwood Mac and Huey Lewis.
