The most recent goalkeeping inclusion to Tony Gustavsson's national team squads, Teagan Micah has quickly risen up the pecking order after outstanding performances against some of the world's toughest opponents, staking her claim for selection at the upcoming FIFA Women's World Cup.

The Gippsland native has always needed to step out of her comfort zone to find opportunities, having first moved to Brisbane from regional Victoria as a child, to help facilitate her footballing development.

After short stints with Brisbane at Western Sydney as a teenager, Micah once again jetted off in search of a new challenge, culminating in a successful American college record of 86 appearances over for four years, for UCLA's Bruins.

Her tenacity abroad still wasn't enough for the goalkeeper to gain a starting position in the A-League Women's competition, with the then Victory keeper snapping up a position in the Norwegian top-flight for 2020, with village outfit Arna-Bjørnar.

The switch to Scandinavia proved to be a masterstroke, with regular minutes peaking the interest of newly appointed national team boss Tony Gustavsson, who handed the keeper her debut prior to the 2021 Olympic Games.

Micah started five of the side's six games in Tokyo, exploding onto the scene back home after a player-of-the-match performance in goal against Great Britain, which included an inspirational penalty save in extra time.

Performances like that have stemmed from Teagan’s ability to step outside her comfort zone, for the sake of her development. As a child, she moved to Brisbane from regional Victoria and had short stints with Brisbane Roar and Western Sydney Wanderers as a teenager in the W League.

Teagan has also forged a successful college career with the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA Bruins), setting an American college record of 86 appearances over four years. The culmination of her time at UCLA saw Teagan keep 36 clean sheets (second all-time record for saves made, third all-time for clean sheets), and obtain a Bachelor of Psychology.

Now a regular amongst the CommBank Matildas squad, Micah's determination in uncomfortable situations across her career, has resulted in the 25-year-old being entrusted with some of her country's most important matches, over the past 12 months.
