Young Socceroos to face New Zealand

The Qantas Young Socceroos will play an international friendly match against the Junior All Whites, as part of preparations for the FIFA U-20 World Cup.

Football Federation Australia (FFA) today announced that the Qantas Young Socceroos will play an international friendly match against the Junior All Whites (New Zealand U-20 Men-s National Team) on Monday 10 June at WIN Stadium in Wollongong.

Both teams will be using the match as an important part of their preparations for the FIFA U-20 World Cup, which will be played in Turkey from 21 June to 13 July 2013.

FFA CEO, David Gallop believes that both teams will benefit greatly from this international friendly match in the lead-up to the FIFA U-20 World Cup.

“This match will be a great opportunity for local football fans to see the Young Socceroos in action before they head to Turkey for the FIFA U-20 World Cup,” Gallop said.

“Both teams are looking to get some valuable match practice in before the tournament and I-m sure the long-standing rivalry between Australia and New Zealand will also guarantee an exciting match for all."

The Qantas Young Socceroos have been drawn in Group C with El Salvador, Colombia and host nation Turkey whilst New Zealand are in Group F along with Uzbekistan, Uruguay and Croatia
