The Young Matildas have claimed a dominant 4-0 victory over traditional rivals New Zealand in Auckland in what was he side's second of three tour matches.

The side controlled the match from start to finish with two goals in either half to ensure they never gave the Kiwis a chance.

Melissa Caceras got the scoring underway in the 5th minute before the Young Matildas pressure led to a New Zealand own goal from Laura Merrin in the 9th minute.

Tara Andrews made sure the game was out of reach when she scored on the hour mark before substitute Alisha Bass finished the rout in the 90th minute.

Head Coach Spencer Prior was pleased with the side-s performance and believes they can get better.

“I give them an 8 out of 10,” said Prior.

“I think there is still room to improve and we are always looking for the girls to progress to prepare them the best we can for the Matildas.”

“I was as satisfied with the scoreline as I was with the quality of pay from the girls.”

The Young Matildas were keen to start well and did that and more as they took the game away from their Trans-Tasman opponents.

“We had a really good tempo from the outset and that set us up for the rest of the match.”

“I was really happy that we controlled the game for long spells and matched them physically.”

The Young Matildas play their final match against New Zealand on Monday.
