The Young Matildas have dominated Jordan to claim a 5-1 victory in the AFF Aya Bank Women-s Championship in Yangon, Myanmar.

It was the Aussies second straight victory to start the tournament as Australia moved to the top of their group.

Hayley Raso got the scoring underway five minutes in after converting from Amy Harrison-s cross.

Shortly after it was 2-0 when Tara Andrews beat Jordan goalkeeper Zina Al Sadi, before Andrews grabbed her second from inside the box to set up a three goal lead.

To their credit the Jordanians continued to show fight and were rewarded when Shahnaz Jebreen had Young Matildas keeper Mackenzie Arnold picking the ball out of the net for the first time in the competition.

Returning from the half-time break with a 3-1 lead the Australian-s finished the game off with Raso securing a brace on 65 minutes before captain Chloe Lagarzo finished the 5-1 rout from a free-kick.

“We started brightly and I thought that the first 20 minutes was some of the best football we-ve played in a long time,” said Australian coach Spencer Prior. “It was very nice to get the early goals.”

The Young Matildas next take on Thailand on Sunday September 15 with kick off at 7:30pm local time (11pm AEST ).
