The FIFA World Cup has made its first ever trip to Australian shores today, when it was unveiled at the Wildfire Restaurant in Circular Quay in Sydney.

The stop in Sydney is part of a worldwide tour by the most famous sports trophy in the world, prior to the 2006 World Cup finals in Germany. The tour has been organised by FIFA and its official partner Coca-Cola.

Football Federation Australia Chairman Mr Frank Lowy (pictured on left, along with FFA chief executive Mr John O'Neill) was in attendance at the unveiling and thanked the organisers for including Sydney in its world tour.

A host of Australian sporting identities and other celebrities were invited to a VIP luncheon, while 3,000 lucky football fans had the chance to get a photo taken with the World Cup trophy.

The trophy has undergone a recent renovation and today-s opportunity provided a rare experience to see the trophy outside of the country of the World Cup winning nation.
