Which Matilda joins Messi on FIFA 16 cover?

One of the Westfield Matildas is set to join superstar Lionel Messi on the cover of the new EA Sports’ FIFA 16 game when it launches later this year.

It has been announced one of either Kyah Simon, Steph Catley or Katrina Gorry will join the Barcelona and Argentina superstar on the cover of the hugely popular game.

And for the first time, fans will get the opportunity to vote for who which player they want to adorn the cover.

From today (June 16) to July 6, all FIFA players can help decide who will stand alongside Messi on the cover of the game in Australia.

All you have to do is go to www.fifa16covervote.com.au to vote for your favourite Matildas star.

The exciting news comes after it was revealed last month that women’s national squads would feature for the first time in the 2016 version of the game.

Women’s national squads from Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, England, France, Germany, Italy, Mexico, Spain, Sweden, and the USA would all be included.

EA Sports captured the movements of USA stars Abby Wambach, Alex Morgan, Megan Rapinoe and Sydney Leroux - as well as some Canadian players - with a 360-degree body-scanning rig to try and create a realistic in-game experience.

Head scanning technology was also utilised to create the detailed facial expressions.

Women’s teams will only be able to play other women’s national teams within the game in “kick-off” and tournament mode.

The video game will available on PC, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3.'
