It’s been almost 400 days since the Westfield Matildas last took to the pitch.

A lot has happened in this time, but this weekend they return!

Westfield Matildas: The story so far

It’s been 396 days since we last took to the pitch against Vietnam in March 2020.

All the nerves and excitement of the Olympic qualifying tournament saw the Westfield Matildas book their ticket to Tokyo.

But since then football has been on pause for the national team.

While the Westfield Matildas haven't taken the park together due to the pandemic, so many exciting things have happened.

The announcement that Australia and New Zealand would be hosting the FIFA Women's World Cup in 2023 brought joy to all football fans.

The arrival of Tony Gustavsson as the new head coach of the Westfield Matildas signalled the beginning of a new, exciting chapter in the team's history.

And now, 13 months later, the team can return to the pitch and finally get back to doing what they love, kicking off with Germany in Wiesbaden.
