Westfield Matildas star Sam Kerr: An incredible 2017

Westfield Matildas star Sam Kerr received yet another accolade on Thursday night when she was named Young Australian of the Year at a ceremony in Canberra.

Kerr has inspired thousands of Australians, for her exploits and endeavours both on and off the pitch.

But on the field there’s arguably been no better women’s player around the world than the 24-year-old attacker.

Her list of accolades over the past 12 months is extremely impressive.

She was named the Asian Football Confederation's Women's Player of the Year for 2017 in November, becoming the third Australian to win the award in the space of four years.

Kerr also took out the Julie Dolan Medal for the Westfield W-League's 2016/17 Season, the PFA Women's Footballer of the Year award, and the NWSL's Most Valuable Player award.

In America’s NWSL, she set the record for most goals in a single season, while she scored in six consecutive games for the Westfield Matildas (11 goals), which was also a record.

In all, she found the net a remarkable 39 times in 44 games for Australia, Perth Glory and Sky Blue FC in 2017.
