Westfield Matildas star leaves German club

Westfield Matildas star Elise Kellond-Knight has confirmed she has left her German club FFC Turbine Potsdam.

Kellond-Knight confirmed the news on her Instagram account, departing the top-flight German outfit after just over two years with the club.

"My time in Potsdam was an unforgettable experience and I will be forever grateful that I have met so many great people here," Kellond-Knight said.

"Turbine will always have a place in my heart, but for me it's time to go home, to Australia.

"My goal is to play again in the Australian professional league, because I think that there are many positive steps going on there right now and I would like to be part of it.”

The 27-year-old Aussie is the third player to depart the German club in the last week.

It’s unclear at this stage where Kellond-Knight’s club future lies, although there is speculation she will be signed by a National Women’s Soccer League club in the US.

The classy midfielder is currently with the Westfield Matildas as they prepare for the Algarve Cup in Portugal.
