Vidosic liking Swiss change

Swiss-based Socceroo Dario Vidosic is hoping his club form will see him in Australia’s final 23-man World Cup squad.

In a FIFA World Cup year, strong domestic form will be crucial to all players with ambitions to make it to Brazil and in that respect, Swiss-based Dario Vidosic is currently well placed to make Australia-s final 23-man squad.

“It-s been fantastic (the move to Switzerland) so far,” said Vidosic.

“I think I left on a Tuesday/Wednesday and I played on the Sunday so I was straight in and straight playing, but it-s been great, I-m really enjoying it.”

Vidosic has made an immediate impact at FC Sion, his four goals in eight league matches helping his club off the foot of table in into contention for places in next season-s European competitions.

“It-s a great league with great players, a lot of internationals play in the Swiss League,” said Vidosic.

“I-m playing against some great defenders and midfielders every week.

“It-s a challenge and one that I-m really enjoying at the moment and loving my time over there.”

Another Australian in fine touch domestically is striker Tim Cahill.

The last to arrive in camp, Cahill is ready to end his season on a high, after a record breaking campaign at New York Red Bulls, which saw the 33-year-old take out his club MVP and Golden Boot awards.

“I feel great, yesterday I was a bit light headed from jetlag, but I feel great,” said Cahill.

“I suppose this is my last game for the season, it-s timed perfectly.

“The whole plan to be fit for another FIFA World Cup is going well, so if all goes well and I-m selected, I-ll be ready to go on Tuesday night.”
