Three hundred and fourteen days after the original start date of the Games, the tournament has never been closer with only 50 days to go!
Luckily, Matildas fans only have to wait 48 days to see the team take to the park in a competitive fixture when the team opens its campaign against New Zealand in Tokyo.
But there is still plenty to be done before the trans-Tasman battle. Australia's preparations for the tournament ramp up with friendlies against Denmark and Sweden in the June window.
Head coach Tony Gustavsson has selected a 25-player squad filled with four potential debutants and plenty of familiar faces, bringing in over 400 caps of international football experience.
After these friendlies, the final touches will be made to the squad before the team boards the plane to Tokyo.
The Matildas have been drawn in a strong group with the Rio 2016 silver medallists and third-placed team from France 2019, Sweden, and reigning FIFA Women's World Cup champions, the USA, to follow after the Football Ferns.
All the action kicks off next month!
