Stajcic tips bright Westfield Matildas future for classy Chidiac

Westfield Matildas coach Alen Stajcic believes teenager Alex Chidiac can earn a regular starting XI spot if she continues her current trajectory.

Chidiac, 19, netted her maiden international goal with the sixth-minute opener in Australia's routine 5-0 win over Thailand in Perth.

The technically-gifted Adelaide United player has long been regarded as one of the most promising young talents in the country and Stajcic says she can become a fixture in the national team.

"She's very coachable which is probably the most pleasing part of her make-up," Stajcic told Fox Sports.

"She's always there to learn, she's working hard.

"She's come from Adelaide - we haven't had a lot of Adelaide players in, so it's good for her to step up to this level and compete with players in training.

"If she [keeps learning] over the next two to three years there's no reason she can't be a regular starting player within this team."

Chidiac, who boasts a wealth of experience at youth international level, is relishing an extended stay in the senior squad having debuted back in 2015.

"It means everything to me. I've been working for this pretty much all my life," she said.

"I'm just ready to get out there and give my best for Australia.

"Training with the girls and being in the squad, you learn so much being in this environment. I'm really happy to be here."
